Local art expert to bring weekly art class to The Atkinson

Local artist, Roy Munday, is set to start a new weekly art class at the recently opened Atkinson on Lord Street, Southport. Roy, who has been teaching art in Sefton for many years, is very much looking forward to this new class, especially at the Atkinson with all its resources in the heart of Southport. The class will benefit both beginners and those more advanced.

Roy said: “I often find that many would-be artists get frustrated with painting simply because they haven’t been tutored in the basics, such as how to draw accurately. The class is structured to teach people all the basics, drawing, painting, colour theory and much more, that eventually they will have the confidence and the skill to work more independently.”

Roy also heads the Sefton Art Group, probably the biggest weekly art group in the North West. This is a fantastic opportunity for people of any ability to learn from an experienced artist and teacher in a great venue.

Roy says of the group. “I’m keen to help class members to engage wider in the arts and arrange visits to the big exhibitions in Liverpool to further their enjoyment. Added to these are opportunities to exhibit their work. Members can also be featured on our website, allowing their work to be seen world-wide”.

The class commences Thursday, May 23rd from 2-4pm. Class numbers are limited, so early enrolment is recommended.

Anyone wishing to join the class should contact Roy directly, either by visiting www.artclasses-merseyside. Email roymun@cybase.co.uk or on 07737982513.
