Grateful Fred’s have been pioneering Americana and Roots music in Formby, Southport and Liverpool since 2010 and during that time have presented some of the best US, Canadian and World artists.

On the first Wednesday of every month, join the Fredhead’s at The Atkinson for a wonderful night of live acoustic music.

About Ranagri

Ranagri is an award-winning folk band from Ireland and England. With a unique blend of instruments that includes voices, guitar, bouzouki, utes, whistles, harp/electric harp, and bodhrán/drums, they create a sound that is both mesmerising and unforgettable.

The band has recorded five studio albums to date, with their latest release, ‘Tradition II,’ receiving critical acclaim upon its release in July 2022. Folk Radio UK placed the album in their top 10 albums of 2022, cementing the band’s status as one of the most exciting and innovative folk bands in the UK today. Previous critically acclaimed albums, ‘Playing For Luck,’ ‘Fort of the Hare,’ and ‘The Great Irish Songbook’ (with pop legend Tony Christie), were recorded at the Grammy Award- winning Stocksch Records label. The band’s third album, ‘VOICES,’ was recorded at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios and along with the album ‘Tradition’ were both released on GoatsKin Records.

Ranagri have established themselves as a standout act, drawing in crowds from around the world with their captivating live performances and exceptional musicianship. They have performed at some of the most prestigious venues & festivals across the UK and Europe, including Cambridge Folk Festival, Bloom festival (Dublin), Montelago festival (Italy),Towersey Festival, a headline slot at Costa Festival Ibiza 2023, Birmingham Symphony Hall, The Union Chapel, Kings Place London along with regular tours of Scotland and Europe.

Ranagri are Dónal Rogers, a prolic songwriter and producer, who has joined forces with the exceptional skills of renowned autist Eliza Marshall, harpist Eleanor Dunsdon and percussionist Jordan Murray. Together, they establish a fresh and modern sonic landscape within the folk genre, captivating audiences both domestically and internationally, an energetic festival band yet equally at home with their more intimate writing and thought-provoking lyrics.
They are as happy to make you dance as they are to make you smile or shed a tear, passionately delving into current world topics, playing with politics, and creating uplifting music to lyrics with great depth.

About Umlaut

We are really pleased to welcome back our good friends Zoe and Ian of the very successful acoustic duo, Umlaut.

Umlaut is an acoustic duo performing at festivals, folk clubs and venues throughout the North West and often further afield.

Zoë has previously been a wedding singer and trained at the Royal School of Church Music. After a break from music due to family commitments, she returned to her love of music by attending open mic nights.

Ian is also one half of another acclaimed acoustic duo, The Huers. He plays quite a number of different acoustic instruments and is also a songwriter, sound engineer and producer of other artists. He is the producer of the podcast series, Half Hour Mentor, in which he has interviewed several musicians about their careers.

About Helen Maw

Helen Maw is a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist hailing from the heart of Liverpool. Blending the raw emotional depth of folk, the storytelling traditions of country, and the infectious melodies of pop, Helen has cultivated a sound that resonates deeply with her listeners. Her music is a reflection of life’s most universal experiences—love, loss, and the complexities of growing up.

Helen’s debut album, “Growing Pains”, released in April 2024, marked a significant milestone in her musical journey. With heartfelt lyrics and a mix of introspective ballads and anthemic tracks, the album showcases her ability to connect with her audience through authentic and relatable storytelling.

Prior to her album, she captivated listeners with a series of singles from 2019, each track gaining recognition from notable radio stations, including BBC Introducing and Amazing Radio, as well as a host of European and U.S. outlets. Her music has even found its way into the stands at Anfield Stadium, home of Liverpool FC, adding a unique touch to her growing global presence. She brings a personal touch to every song, weaving narratives that speak to the collective human experience.

Whether she’s exploring the struggles of growing up or reflecting on the complexities of relationships, Helen’s music offers a sense of connection and comfort.
