Grateful Fred’s have been pioneering Americana and Roots music in Formby, Southport and Liverpool since 2010 and during that time have presented some of the best US, Canadian and World artists.

On the first Wednesday of every month, join the Fredhead’s at The Atkinson for a wonderful night of live acoustic music.

The Club Night:

7.30pm – Siobhan & Chris Nelson
8.00pm – Jackson Williams
8.40pm – Interval
9.00pm – Reg Meuross

Award-winning troubadour Reg Meuross, hailed as one of England’s finest folk songwriters, captivates audiences worldwide with powerful songs of social conscience, performed with his beautiful tenor voice and masterful musicianship on guitar, banjo, dulcimer, and more.

Jackson Williams is a Country blues/Folk band from rural North Wales consisting of songwriting duo Deborah Jackson (Vocals), and Skeet Williams (Guitar, Bouzouki and Vocals), along with Sam Pritchard (Piano and Keyboards) and Andy Cooper (Percussion).

Siobhan & Chris Nelson first got together as members of The Cluster of Nuts Band, who were part of the ‘rogue folk’ movement back in the early 1980s – the band were even immortalised in Southern Rag (the forerunner of fRoots magazine) as The Buster of Ruts Band!

Reg Meuross

Award-winning Reg Meuross was introduced onto the stage of the Albert Hall by Mike Harding as ‘one of this country’s finest’ and is a true modern troubadour, representing contemporary English folk writing at its best.

Captivating audiences with his beautiful tenor voice, and with breadth and depth of material that is unparalleled, Reg has toured extensively for decades across the UK, Europe, North America and the Antipodes. Masterfully accompanying himself on his ‘44 Martin six-string guitar, harmonica, tenor guitar, banjo and dulcimer, witnessing a Reg Meuross performance is to experience a journey into the heart, soul and songs of one of England’s mostcelebrated writers. Stories that need to be told; struggles that need to be known; injustice that needs to be uncovered; social conscience that needs to be celebrated – his music has an unrivalled power to reach and move the listener.

After 14 critically acclaimed albums, Reg continues to prove how highly relevant his songs are, whilst reaching new audiences with consistently spellbinding performances.

‘Assured a place in the pantheon of great folk songwriters’ – The Living Tradition

We are absolutely delighted to be welcoming them back Grateful Fred’s as last time they performed for us they absolutely blew us away. With Deborah’s great voice and her and Jackson’s songs you are in for a real treat.

Siobhan & Chris Nelson

Many of you will recognise both Chris and Siobhan. Chris as a member of The Wanderers and also The Silver Freds and Siobhan as a member of “Doxy Music” and in her own right as a solo singer. Chris and Siobhan first got together as members of The Cluster of Nuts Band, who were part of the ‘rogue folk’ movement back in the early 1980s – the band were even immortalised in Southern Rag (the forerunner of fRoots magazine) as The Buster of Ruts Band! Since then they have performed together at festivals, folk clubs and venues far and wide.
