What’s in the library?
Sefton Libraries is a contemporary library service whose delivery goes “beyond the book”, delivering a varied community programme of engagement and support.
As well as providing a large collection of books, digital media and archive material, Southport Library, hosts regular community events, provides free wifi and access to computers, and offers tourist information. Other additions include a self-service machines and bookable meeting pods. Southport Library is also home to a One Stop Shop.
If you can’t make it to Southport Library, you can access the Online Library Catalogue and Digital Library Service from home, or arrange a home delivery service by contacting the library.
The Children’s Library
The library’s showpiece is the extended children’s section with room for activities and events, which includes a ship, specially made for the library, named after Kathleen – a real fishing boat built in Southport around 1900.
Boasting the largest collection in the borough, our Children’s Section offers a wealth of literature to inspire and engage readers of all ages, from toddlers to teenagers.
In addition to our extensive collection, we regularly host exciting events tailored for children, creating a dynamic and welcoming environment for young minds to explore and grow.

A One Stop Shop service is located inside Southport Library at The Atkinson.
