Kuchipudi is a South Indian dance form known for its grace, fluidity and storytelling. This workshop offers an accessible introduction through movement, rhythm, expression and storytelling, no prior experience needed.
Children will learn foundational hand gestures (mudras) and footwork, then put them to the test in playful dance-charades, telling a story through gesture and expression alone.
Dance also supports physical health and mental wellbeing, building confidence, focus and body awareness alongside valuable life skills.
By the end, children will have learned a short sequence blending gesture, footwork and expression, their first steps into one of India’s oldest living performance traditions.
Workshop dates:
Wednesday 19th and 26th August 1-3pm.
Suitable for children aged 5-12.
Tickets are £3 and can be purchased from the Library counter.
