Families are invited to lift the flaps and discover what the zoo has sent when Dear Zoo Live arrives at The Atkinson in September.

Based on Rod Campbell’s timeless lift-the-flap book, the stage adaptation brings the much-loved story to life with colourful puppets, lively music and plenty of audience interaction. Children can join the fun as each surprising animal is delivered – from a cheeky monkey and a jumpy frog to the perfect puppy in the end.

First published in 1982, Dear Zoo has delighted generations of young readers and has sold more than eight million copies worldwide. Its simple, distinctive illustrations and playful repetition have made it a firm favourite for families, helping young children build confidence and develop an early love of reading.

With a running time of approximately 55 minutes and no interval, Dear Zoo Live is an ideal first theatre experience for children aged one and above. The production offers families the chance to share the excitement of the familiar story as it unfolds before their eyes.
