Celebrating Our Museum Volunteers: Unleashing the Magic!

We find ourselves in the midst of #VolunteersWeek, a special time to honour the superheroes who bring life and light to The Atkinson. We want to take a moment to express our heartfelt appreciation for all the incredible individuals who have dedicated their time, energy, and passion to help us create moments of wonder and discovery for our visitors.

Picture this: a bustling hub of art, a treasure trove of artefacts, and a vibrant community of curious minds coming together. Now add a sprinkle of volunteer magic, and you’ve got the secret recipe for success. From greeting visitors with radiant smiles to sharing intriguing stories, our volunteers embody the very essence of our institution.

To our volunteers, you are the guardian angels of history, art, and culture. Your dedication and enthusiasm have helped us breathe life into every exhibit, making it a captivating experience for all. We applaud you for your patience as you guide our younger visitors through interactive activities, igniting their imagination and curiosity. You are the sparks that ignite the flames of passion in the hearts of our future curators, artists, and historians.

We cannot help but mention the incredible contributions our volunteers have made behind the scenes. Whether it’s lending a hand at our events, assisting with administrative tasks, or even the restoration of our taxidermy ducks, your commitment is awe-inspiring. Whether you’ve been volunteering with us for a long time or you’re a newbie; your work does not go unnoticed.

The Atkinson would not be complete without the laughter, storytelling, and shared moments that you bring to every nook and cranny. Your infectious enthusiasm is contagious, turning ordinary visits into unforgettable adventures. You have a magical ability to make learning a joyful experience for all ages.

At The Atkinson, volunteers are more than just supporters; they are the heart and soul of our community. You inspire us with your unwavering passion, your genuine love for knowledge, and your relentless pursuit of spreading joy and inspiration to every visitor.

So, as we celebrate #VolunteersWeek, let us raise a glass and toast to each and every one of our volunteers. You are the backbone of The Atkinson, the glue that holds it all together. Your selfless acts of kindness have left an indelible mark, and for that, we are eternally grateful.

To our volunteers, thank you for being the guardians of the magic within our walls. Cheers to each and every one of you.

P.S. To all our readers, we invite you to join us in this celebration of our incredible volunteers. If you feel inspired to share your own stories or experiences about volunteering, we would be thrilled to hear them. Let us spread the joy and appreciation far and wide, for our volunteers truly deserve it all!

2023 marks the 39th year of Volunteers’ Week (1-7 June), when we join thousands of charities and voluntary organisations in recognising the contribution volunteers make across the UK.
